Year 8

This adventure camp, suitable for students in Years 8-9, includes a range of outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, fire making, canyoning, coasteering and the great race. The trip will be based in Lantau Monday-Wednesday and students will need to make their own way to and from Mui  Wo each day. Thursday and Friday are based in Cheung Chau and students will stay overnight in Cheung Chau on Thursday night in a residential campsite. 

The fee includes all activities, equipment, instructors, accommodation and meals in Cheung Chau but lunch and snacks Monday-Wednesday are not provided.

Led by our Head of Visual Arts, Tony Fryer, students will take inspiration from nature as they create their own artwork using various mediums. Students will visit a local beach to collect rocks and shells that will form the centrepiece of their artwork. This experience is predominantly based in school with one off-site visit. Lunch is provided on the final day.

This five-day culinary experience invites food and cooking aficionados to discover their cooking abilities and explore an assortment of international cuisine. Classes also include product knowledge and tips, explanation of tools and techniques, traditional and cutting-edge preparation methods, artistic display and tasting sessions to sample the dishes taught. Students will work with professional chefs to learn dishes from all over the world and additionally indulge in a cake making class, green cooking and a session on etiquette. ​

Ever wondered what the Wilson or Hong Kong trails are? Ever seen the view of Hong Kong from one of its highest peaks? Ever walked the Dragon’s Back? Find out more about your own backyard and how green it really is.

Get outdoors and experience the real gems of Hong Kong. Each day explore a different hike along the many trails this wonderful land has to offer. The hikes will begin gently and become progressively more challenging as you get accustomed to the walks. We will be meeting at different starting points each day, ready to hit the trails.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Packed lunches are needed as well as a charged up Octopus Card to use the public transport as students need to travel independently to and from hike meeting and finishing locations. Please note that the timings for each day will vary depending on the hike. A detailed itinerary will be shared with you nearer the time.

What is Hong Kong and what does it mean to be a Hong Konger? Fall in love with Hong Kong by joining us to explore what makes Asia's World City so special. We will travel to the beating heart and far corners of Hong Kong, explore the most iconic places and discover how they continue to define our great city.

Students will move around Hong Kong to explore heritage buildings, iconic food, transport methods old and new, redevelopment and a visit  to some of Hong Kong's finest buildings to hear from experts. Please note that some activities involve students working in groups where they will be unaccompanied by staff. Staff will be located at checkpoints.

The Teens Nutrition & Training (TNT) Week encompasses a fun, hands on and integrated wellbeing program for youth across a single experience week. Focusing on health, nutrition and fitness training, TNT is designed to equip students with the fundamentals that empowers them to make better decisions about their own health and wellbeing. There will be 2-4 classroom or outdoor workshops and activities with different coaches and experts in the health and wellness industry each day.

Music Legends 2024 is for students who want to perform and create music live, and use music technology. We welcome all kinds of musicians; singers, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard/piano players, and other instruments. There is a place for you no matter what instrument you play. This Horizons Week activity challenges you to express your views about current, historical, personal or social themes through contemporary music. You will learn and enhance your musical skills by composing and performing your own songs in a band guided by professional musicians working in the music industry. Come and join us in this fun week of making and creating music.

During this activity, students will be based at the Sunroom Studio in Peng Chau and learn how to use the wheel. You will learn how to work with clay and then start to mould  your creations. Every day you will take the ferry to beautiful Peng Chau and work alongside others in a beautiful rural setting. At the end of the week you will fire your creations to be able to keep them forever. Please note, this course runs from 9-3pm each day apart from Friday which finishes at 1.30pm.

Led by the team at Australasia Sports, this year's sports camp will be based exclusively at the Hong Kong Football Club. With its world class facilities and professional coaches, students will enjoy participating in up to 15 different sports, teambuilding activities as well as health and nutrition workshops. Lunch is included each day.

Students will participate in a range of watersports activities including SUP, kayaking, surfing, dragon boating and wakeboarding. On the final day, students will also give back to the local community by participating in a beach clean. This is a fun opportunity to try new activities with friends.

Don't know your bechamel from your ragu? This could be the activity for you. Come and learn some new recipes and develop the skills to cook competently for your friends and family. Working with different people throughout the week, learn some classic recipes and how to put your own spin on them. An exciting opportunity to build your skills and your cookery repertoire. This activity is led by WIS staff and is based in the food technology classrooms.

Learn how to become a You Tube sensation! Students will be given a brief and will plan, create content and edit to learn the increasingly important skill of communicating to an audience using technology. Guided by Mr Jordan, who has his own successful YouTube channel and podcast, students will develop vital 21st century skills.
