Berlin Krakow website.pdf

As part of a new addition to our Horizons Week programme, students have the opportunity to fly to Berlin where they will explore some of the key landmarks from World War Two and get up close and personal with twentieth century history.

Note: there is no expectation for students to study history to attend this trip but they should have an interest and be sensitive to the Holocaust, the rise of the Nazis and living European history to get the most out of this trip. There are no direct flights to Berlin or Krakow so only sign up if you are prepared to travel long haul and transfer. You will fly in to Berlin and out of Krakow. In addition, as part of the cultural experience, students will be out at museums or exploring the cities during the day and will need to purchase their own lunch. This is not included in the cost of the trip.

To talk of culture is to speak of Salamanca. Taking a walk through the streets of its historic centre, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, means taking a walk through centuries of history, art and knowledge and experiencing the wonder of landmarks such as its famous University, one of the oldest in Europe, and which today continues to attract thousands of students.

Note: this trip can cater for all levels of Spanish from beginner to native; students of iGCSE or IB Spanish will be prioritised

We guarantee that students will use their language skills outside the classroom when out exploring and visiting local shops and markets. To maximize their immersion, they will be staying in groups of two or three with local host families who speak only Spanish and who will cook for them and converse with them in Spanish.  Students will walk to and from school with their roommates. Homestaying is usually the aspect of the trip that students find most enjoyable and perhaps most challenging. WIS staff will be based nearby to support our students.

The group will fly direct to Madrid.
