Get ready for an unforgettable journey to St. Louis, Missouri, where 9th-grade AGS scholars step out of the classroom and into a real-world laboratory of innovation and history! On this high-energy regional expedition, you will explore how cities thrive sustainably by analyzing Sustainable Development Goals like Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Life on Land (SDG 15) up close. Climb through the iconic City Museum, a massive architectural playground built almost entirely from upcycled industrial materials, and step inside the Climatron geodesic dome at the Missouri Botanical Garden to experience tropical rain-forest biomes firsthand. You will ride 630 feet up the Gateway Arch, cruise the Mississippi River on a narrated riverboat tour, and stand atop a working lock and dam at the National Great Rivers Museum. From unearthing ancient engineering at Cahokia Mounds with augmented reality to engaging with powerful Midwest civil rights narratives at the Griot Museum of Black History, every stop inspires fresh perspectives. Designed specifically to align with your AP U.S. Government and Politics coursework, this immersive trip brings foundational constitutional principles and civic participation to life. Tour federal institutions like the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and the Pentagon to observe how interactions among branches of government shape national and international policy. Examine historic founding documents at the National Archives Museum, explore world-renowned collections across the Smithsonian Museums, and engage with powerful human rights narratives at the Holocaust Museum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Reflect on American history at Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, and iconic monuments dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., and our nation's veterans. January 14th - January 17th, 2027
Cap off your high school journey with an incredible senior expedition to Phoenix, Arizona, where the vibrant Southwest becomes the ultimate stage for testing your four years of global leadership! On this exciting capstone experience, seniors examine how a rapidly growing desert metropolis tackles real-world challenges surrounding water scarcity, urban heat, renewable energy, and sustainable development. You will step inside Biosphere 2—the world's largest earth science laboratory—to explore enclosed ocean, rainforest, and savannah biomes modeling real-world climate impacts. Tour Arizona State University's Tempe campus to witness functional solar canopies and visit the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, then explore green civic architecture at the Burton Barr Central Library. Compare modern water engineering at Tempe Town Lake with ancient Hohokam canal systems at the S'edav Va'aki Museum, and dig into urban agriculture at Spaces of Opportunity. You will also engage with powerful cultural exhibits at the Heard Museum and Phoenix Art Museum while navigating the Valley Metro transit system to build real-world independence.
