The goal of this standard is for students to explore how shapes fit together to create new shapes, as well as notice which shapes are components of an existing shape.
In this standard, students create composite two- and three-dimensional shapes. Students are expected to name the composite shape, if it is a shape that is common to first grade students, as well as the component shapes that they used to make the new shape.
