The Wiki Project Med Foundation, also known as MDwiki or WikiMed, is a Wikimedia thematic organization, and a registered non-profit organization established to support the development and dissemination of high-quality medical content across Wikimedia platforms. 

We do this by forming collaborations with other like-minded organizations, giving talks at universities and other organizations, and working to develop greater access to the medical literature for Wikipedians, offline apps, internet-in-a-box among many others.  As an independent entity, we work to strengthen the accuracy, accessibility, and reach of health-related information shared through open knowledge systems.  We create well-referenced, peer-reviewed 200 to 500 word summaries of key health topics and these summaries are then translated by our volunteers.

 Healthcare Translation Task Force

Hosted on MDWiki, this volunteer-driven effort began in 2011.  Since then we have created over 22,000 translations and worked in more than 150 languages! This translated content has received more than 24.47 million pageviews since we began collecting data in 2015.
And work has been carried out by more than 3,250 volunteer translators. By expanding the availability of reliable health information beyond English, the task force helps address language gaps in medical education and broadens access to trusted resources for diverse communities worldwide. Through structured collaboration and volunteer engagement, WPMEDF plays a key role in enhancing the global availability of credible medical knowledge.
