School lunch will be served every day. Students will be eating in their classrooms on one day of in-person instruction, and in a separate large space on the other day that they attend in-person instruction. This is to provide students with an extra opportunity for movement during the day. Important details:
Each class "lunchroom" will always be the same location, and only one class will utilize the space at a time.
The "lunchrooms" include our two large parent pick up rooms, our cafeteria, our multi-purpose room, and our band and orchestra rooms.
Each room will be thoroughly cleaned between classes.
Each room has access to sinks, sanitizing stations and bathrooms. The parent pick up, band and orchestra rooms have bathrooms and sinks inside the room.
Students will be 6 feet apart and will remove their masks to eat.
Students will be provided with time to wash their hands before and after lunch.
Students are also welcome to bring their lunch from home as in other years. Classrooms will have a snack time, as well. Bottled water is welcomed for drinking in the classroom.
Recess
Students will have recess with their class cohort every day. In fair weather, students will play outside in a designated section of our school campus. In inclement weather, students will have indoor recess where they ate lunch.
Outdoor recess stations will include the playground, the field, and the blacktop.
Students will visit different recess stations on different days.
Students will have options within each recess station appropriate to that area (e.g., chalk and jump ropes available on the black top) but will have to remain with their class and in their area.
To the greatest extent possible, materials will not be shared during the recess period and will be cleaned before reuse. The playground will be cleaned regularly.
Students will be required to wear their masks at all times during recess, including outside, when social distancing is not observed unless they are medically unable to tolerate a mask and proper documentation has been filed.
Students can not share toys from home. Personal toys are not permitted during Phase 1.
