We will follow all guidelines with regards to social distancing and the sharing of materials during Special Area classes. Students will attend two special area classes a week during in-person instruction. Any special area classes not attended during in-person instruction may be completed online. Special Area teachers will post lessons and activities for students to complete remotely.
Art
Students will attend art in the art room. They will be required to wear their masks in the art room. Students will bring their own pencil boxes to the art room. To the greatest extent possible, materials will not be shared. Any material that does need to be reused (e.g., a. paintbrush) will be properly sanitized between uses.
Music
Music will be held in the music room. The music teachers will modify curricular activities for indoor instruction so that students can participate with six foot social distancing (e.g., rhythm through clapping, reading notes). When applicable, and weather permitting, teachers will be able to take students outside. Students will be 12 feet apart for any singing or vocal activities.
Physical Education
When indoors, classes will not be combined for gym. A divider will separate the gym so class cohorts will not be mixed. Students will be 12 feet apart for aerobic activities. Weather permitting, Phys Ed will be held outdoors.
Library
As in past years, students will be able to visit the library with their class and the librarian will be able to provide instruction. However, there will be no book exchange and students will not share materials or "browse" books. Additional sanitizing of tables will take place between class use.
