Transportation is provided for the district by First Student and Durham Transportation companies.
Before picking up students...
The bus companies the district contracts with are responsible for cleaning the buses after the completion of the morning and afternoon bus routes.
The district will ensure that school bus drivers, monitors and attendants will wear a face covering.
The district will ensure that transportation staff is trained and provided periodic refreshers on the proper use of personal protective equipment and the signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
At the bus stop and on the bus...
Students will board the bus at their regular stops.
All students are required to wear a mask on a school bus if they are physically able.
Students who do not have a mask will not be denied transportation and will be provided with a mask by the district.
Siblings or children who reside in the same household will be encouraged to sit together.
Drivers will be encouraged to open the windows, weather permitting.
At school in the morning...
All buses will enter the back bus loop.
Students will be greeted by staff and enter the building, staggered by grade levels to reduce the density in hallways.
At school in the afternoon...
Students that are taking the bus home will exit the building from two separate locations.
Class walking routes will be established in order to allow for social distancing amongst cohorts in the hallways and in the bus loop.
All students will travel in the same direction around the bus loop to eliminate bidirectional traffic.
All buses will be in the back bus loop.
Please refer to the Reopening Plans for First Student and Durham for more details regarding the specific cleaning protocols that will be utilized by the companies and with any additional questions.
