The students were expected to choose a famous painting in art history and create a new version of the painting with found objects. They were encouraged to use items to show my time period. They were supposed to write a critique of the original painting to explain why they chose this piece of art over all others. The piece to the left was Re-Created by this lovely student. Click here to see the other examples from the class.
The students were told to choose a product that already exists and create a new version of the product. They were encouraged to come up with a new name, logo, slogan and vessel design (can/box/bag/ package/etc.). Color or value is always encouraged to make the design pop. They could use the medium of my choice (drawing, painting, digital design). The design to the left was created by Megan. Click here to see the other students' designs.
Students were expected to research the image of the corona-virus to use in this art work. They were supposed to re-purpose the image into an everyday object using the medium of my choice (drawing, painting, digital design, found objects). The students were asked to fill the entire space and add details around the image to create a parody of the image. They were given a variety of examples. This parody was created by Kaylee . Students had two options for this project.
OPTION 1: Students could create a marketing poster that advertises the need for home/online schooling.
OPTION 2: I will create a full color comic strip of something humorous that has happened while quarantined at home or while you were doing school work at home.
The students could use any medium of their choice (drawing, painting, digital design). The composition to the left was created by Reanna . Click on this link to see the rest of the class' compositions.
The students were expected to create a color composition using the media of their choice (drawing, painting, 3D structure) to express their feelings regarding the COVID-19 situation in our world today. After the composition was complete, they were expected to write a brief summary describing the artwork. The composition to the left was created by Trinity. Click here to see the rest of the class' compositions.
Students were expected to find objects around their homes. They were required to find objects that were primary and secondary colors. Some students included objects that were tertiary colors. The colors were supposed to be placed in the order of a color wheel. The color wheel to the left was created by Ruby. To see the rest of the class' color wheels, click here.
Before Spring Break, we were working on acrylic paintings on canvas.
Before Spring Break we were working on Mixed Media. Here are our practice pieces. Click here to see the practice pieces.
Click here to see some great quick sketches. The sketch to the left, "Something Sweet," was created by Tobey.
We are currently working on Printmaking. You can see our practice activities by clicking here. The potato print to the left was created by Ashley and Jakari. The final pieces are coming soon.
The students had any medium at there disposal. They were required to choose a person to use as a reference. They need to use good values on the portrait and show a full color background.

The students were encouraged to use their choice of medium for this project. Some students have been wanting to try charcoal. Some wanted to try watercolor. Enjoy the variety you will find in these still life pieces.

When pre-testing, I found that good majority of my students didn't have a great amount of experience with perspective. I already understood this about this group because most were in Art 2 with me. Last year we did letters in two point perspective. We reviewed what we had learned about one point and through our projects last year. For the final project, students had choices. They could do floating 3D forms, a building or 3D letters. It just depended on their past experience. They needed to add a good amount of detail which was demonstrated for them numerous times and they needed to add some type of organic form. Here is the result of two weeks of diving deep into two point. The piece to the left was created by Trinity. To see practice pieces and the rest of the class' work, click here.
