Syllabus Mrs. Hom‐ Mandell Rm.38
Course Description: The idea that artists are “born” and not taught is one of the great misconceptions of our culture. While some great artists may exhibit unique abilities early in life, anyone can learn and develop the fundamental skills of drawing and painting. Art I explores a carefully designed progressive series of skills that help students learn to see, starting with drawing and culminating in painting techniques. Art I provides an excellent foundation for all other art courses offered at Weston High School. Art 1 is open to all students.
Students will be graded on the following: Attendance, Clean‐up, Effort & Citizenship: 40% Projects: 60 %
Required Materials: Sketchbook for DO NOWS and ready to learn attitude.
Attendance policy: According to WPS policy, three unexcused tardies equal an absence, and five or more absences per term equals an incomplete.
