Students from Art club are currently working on Memory project photographs of refugees from Malaysia.
We currently have photos of refugee children who are living in Malaysia. Over the past decade, more than 150,000 people from ethnic and religious minorities - such as the Rohingya people from Myanmar - have landed in Malaysia with hopes of escaping violence and persecution. They have found safety there, but there is a catch: in Malaysia they do not have legal rights. They earn money for food in any way they can, living in impoverished pockets of large cities, but their children are not entitled to education or healthcare. We’ve partnered with a charity that runs a wonderful school for these children, offering them both education and hope. Join us in creating their portraits, and your students will offer them kindness, respect, encouragement, and joy. The due date for mailing us the finished portraits is February 17th, 2020.
