I started in the SCA with my mom when I was 2 years old. When in high school, I took classes to learn to sew my own clothes. I grew up in the Shire of Mountain's Gate and lived in the Kingdom of An Tir for a few years before moving back to the Kingdom of the West. I am currently the Baroness of the Barony of Rivenoak, and the West Kingdom Youth Combat Marshal.
While I like to do a lot of different arts and crafts, my main arts are illumination and calligraphy. In 2009 I started doing medieval illumination. In 2014 I was taken on as an apprentice to Mistress Hilarie the Puppeteer. At that time I also started working on my calligraphy hands and have recently become apprenticed to Sir Bjorn Jorsalfar of Bearhaven. I have completed 23 official scrolls for the Kingdom of the West and the Principality of Cynagua.
All of my illuminated work, so far, is done on a paper called pergamenata, which is a modern version of a vegetable vellum and is widely used by scribes. I use Windsor Newton Gouache and Speedball acrylic ink. My scroll sizes range from 11"x 14" to 16"x 20". If someone requests a scroll of a different size, I work with them on what they need, see below.

This scroll has been in progress for a bit. This piece is on a full sheet of pergamenata, 27.5"x 39".
The design is based on the Stora Hammars I image stone located in Stora Hammars, Lärbro parish, Gotland, Sweden. I altered the pictures to tell a story of the recipients most memorable battles. At the bottom are the basic shields of people who have influenced his life. The runes are Elder futhark at the recipient's request. An English translation will be inscribed on the back of the scroll. The seals and signatures will be placed to either side of the stone near the top.
The original poem was written by Tuaflaith Ingen Maddoc. I illuminated and calligraphed it as a gift. This has yet to be completed. I still need to do some touch up work and black line the gold.
The design is based on the Hours of John the Fearless, Duke of Burgundy, c. 1406-15. the boarder is taken form the St. Andrew image, f.172v. The hand is a gothic quadrata. It is on an 11" x 14" pergamenata sheet.
This scroll is in the beginning stages. I have completed the calligraphy and outlined the design. The design is based on the Breviary of Renaud de Bar (1302-1303).
The next stage of this design is gilding, where I put gold to paper. I plan to do raised gilding in the background of the B.
This scroll is just finished as of June 19th. It is an Award of Arms and my 23rd official scroll.
