Investigation:
During late May as the school year was coming to an end, and the summer vacations were steadily approaching, I was looking for different internship oppurtunities to do in the summer. During this time then, I came across Steps. After constant discussions with the CAS advisor, I had made my CV, written my application letter, and sent my application. After approximately 2 weeks, I recieved a answer from one managers in Steps, saying that they wanted to have a brief meeting. While I was delighted with the oppurtunity I will potentially be receiving, I was worried about what they would ask me in the meeting, and whether I will be able to speak in a confident manner. During the day of the meeting, I was asked what my skills are and what I am looking to get out of this internship. After being impressed with my maturity, confidence, and purity in my mannerism along with my experiences in marketing, I was appointed as a marketing intern in Steps for 4 weeks (from June 30 to August 1).
Preparation:
To prepare for my four week marketing internship, I looked up and tried to learn the methods of effective marketing utilized in modern day businesses like Steps. I learned how promotion on social media platforms and video marketing are one of the main techniques to promote a business. After arriving on my first day to Steps, as expected I was given a task to make 5 social media content to promote Steps' training program for neurodivergent people, their cafe's, and their volunteering programs in different international schools across Bangkok.
Action:
During my internship, I spent 8 hours a day, 3 days a week for 4 weeks working on making content for Steps' social media page, taking pictures of internees, editing errors from the Steps website, and making posts for the CEO's LinkedIn page. As I progressed through the internship, I was trained with the dialect I should use to address the neurodivergent people/trainees. I was actively being given tasks to complete by the head of the marketing department, to assist them in completing important tasks pertaining to promoting the business on multiple medium.s
Reflection:
As I went through the internship, I learned multiple factors that affect a business, and how important it is to have a healthy working environment to foster both productivity and employee job satisfaction. I further realized how important it is to both be successful in the corporate world, but also to have an equal importance towards benefitting the overall society and community that we are a part of. Through this internship, I learned the importance of teamwork, division of tasks, a positive business organizational culture, commitment, and overall global engagement. Steps was able to build a strong and positive reputation for providing employment to neurodivergent people, a issue that is often overlooked. After completing this internship, I have built a personal goal for myself to be successful in the field of business and to help the community around me in whatever way possible.
Demonstration:
After this internship, just like I organized a charity run for children with disabilities in February 2023, I am once again hoping to take my knowledge gained from Steps to further enhance my club, Runabled's goals.
