Thailand Invitational Volleyball Open @ NIST

  • Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

  • Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

  • Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

In November, my team had the opportunity to go to NIST International School's substitute SEASAC tournament held in Bangkok. There were 9 schools from all around Thailand, and we placed 6th place. This tournament was definitely tiring, but it was also eye-opening. There were a lot of tears shed as it was one of our last tournaments as seniors and it was most certainly difficult, to say the least. I am glad, however, that we played our best and enjoyed every moment of the tournament and each day of it. This tournament was one of the more long ones-- it was three days. This is an experience, that I will never forget. We not only played our hearts out, but we also got to make several new friends and develop our skills to the fullest extent.

International School Bangkok Invitational September & October 2020

Over the months of September and October, we got a chance to attend two ISB invitational tournaments, as a substitute for not being able to travel overseas and both the tournaments were undoubtedly fun and tough at the same time. We did not place highly, but we did train meticulously and heavily throughout the weeks leading up to this tournament. We went against several big schools such as BPS and learnt to persevere and fight on behalf of our teammates for as long as we could. The tournaments were both 2 days long and encouraged us to, again, play our best as a team and as individuals whilst making new friends, developing our skills, and sharpening the knowledge and passion we already have for the sport. We also definitely bonded as a team. It paved the path for the rest of the season to be that much more fruitful! The tournament was also overnight, and I was highly enthusiastic to participate in the social activities with my friends as well.

Our last tournaments as seniors was at KIS International School, where we represented Wells in the AISAA Tournament and received the first place trophy. There were 8 other schools in this tournament, and it was relatively smaller than the other tournaments. This tournament was only a single day, but nevertheless it was tiring. This experience was everything we practiced for weeks for. It was surely rewarding and it was sad that it was the last tournament we played as seniors. I did learn a lot of skills whilst practicing the ones I already had.
