So me and my buddy Puard went on a medical trip with the Rama institution. These medical trips are separated into two the first one we went to the province of Nongkai and the Second one was in the province of Pichit.
On the first trip we went to Nongkai shadowing Dr.Bank, but before shadowing I was put in charge of helping with packing medicine such as Paracetamol,Asprin, and anti Histamines. After that I learned and helped Dr.Bank with diagnosing health complications most of the things we've seen are very normal for old people such as Osteoarthritis , GERD , and swollen knees. From this trip I've learned how to diagnose these aliments as well as treat them.
On the second trip we went to Pichit shadowing Dr.Poom, in this trip I was in charge of handing out glasses for hyperopia . after getting that done I started with shadowing but I started to recognize some of the complications that I've seen from my last trip but in this trip we in which I mean I was mostly just doing physical labour work such as setting up tables and making medical cabinets but I did help with the diagnostics part.
"Students are able to identify and demonstrate their understanding of global issues, make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action in response to the issue either locally, nationally or internationally. "
The CAS learning outcome from this experience is learning outcome number 6 ( Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance). The reason for this is because I realized that people in the rural areas of Thailand had less medical service and less medicine( medicine is less available ) than people in Bangkok. Because of this me and my friend joined an institution that helps distribute medicine and medical services to those who need it in the rural areas of Thailand . During this time we helped give medical services and distribute medicine to the sick. ( a local action)
