School counselors encourage students in their development as confident and caring individuals and assist them in the process of becoming committed learners. Counselors oversee students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Each sixth grade advisory has an assigned counselor. Counselors and students get to know each other through different experiences. One way is through SEED class and small group SEED that counselors teach once per cycle. Topics include transition, study strategies, friendship skills, ally behavior, and introduction to careers. Students are also invited to lunch groups with the counselor, and individual appointments as needed.
Counselors develop productive and positive relationships with students and work closely with teachers on teams. Counselors are available to assist families throughout the middle school years.
Welcome to WMS sixth graders and families!
