Multiple-Winner Approval Voting

Recalling from approval voting discussed in Cardinal Methods, approval voting is a voting method that allows voters to vote for any number of candidates, and the candidates with the most votes wins the election. In multiple-winner approval voting, the same method applies, but more than one candidate may be elected.


Key Vocabulary

Single-winner election: One winner is elected.

Multiple-winner election: More than winner is elected.

Tallying process: A technique used to count the amount of votes a candidate receives. For every vote received the candidate receives one tally. The candidate with the most tallies wins.

Plurality winner: The candidate who received the most votes wins the election.
