What We Believe
Wake Forest Middle School Counselors believe:
All students have the right to be served by and participate in the school counseling program.
All students have dignity and worth and the right to a safe, mutually respectful, healthy, and orderly learning environment.
All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, gender, and sexual orientation differences and special needs should be considered in the planning and implementation of the school counseling program.
Every student is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning each day.
Learning involves the education of the whole person and is a continuous lifelong process.
Learning requires the active participation, mutual respect, and individual accountability of students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
In the Wake Forest Middle School’s School Counseling Program:
The school counselors collaborate with the administration, teachers, parents and the community to advocate for every student.
Classroom lessons and activities address 3 domains: academic, personal/social, and career.
Various assessments and data are used to develop and continually evaluate the effectiveness of the comprehensive school counseling program.
Counselors use an annual Needs Assessment to gather data directly from students about the areas in which they need help learning new skills and information.
