New Student Registration

Registration for students new to Wake County Public Schools

We are excited to have your child join Wake County Schools and particularly the Wake Forest Middle School family!  In order to register your student please go to www.wcpss.net/student-assignment


First, click on "Find your base school" to ensure that we are the base school for your address.  Wake Forest Middle follows the traditional calendar.


If Wake Forest Middle is your base school but you would like to request a transfer to a year-round or a magnet school, you will still need to register with Wake Forest Middle.  There is a box in the online pre-enrollment form that you can check where you can indicate that you would like to request a transfer.  We will register your child and will email you the Wake County student ID so you can go back into the portal and request a transfer.  Student Assignment makes the decision as to whether your transfer is approved or not.  If they approve your transfer, we will forward all pre-enrollment documents to the new school.  If your transfer is denied, then your student is an enrolled student at Wake Forest Middle School.


When you fill out the pre-enrollment form online it will ask you to upload three documents:  A copy of your ID, a copy of your child's birth certificate and a proof of residence.  For proof of residence, Wake County allows us to accept either a copy of a lease agreement/purchase settlement statement OR a water, gas or electric bill that is within the past 30 days and does not show a disconnect notice. 


After you complete the online form and submit it, the information will come to us, and we will send you back a welcome email with documents that will need to be completed here at the school level.  


When you have completed those forms, you can bring in the completed documents and show your ID to the Receptionist.  


Once we have received your completed documents and seen your ID then the Data Manager will finalize the enrollment and send the grade level counselor the information so your student can be scheduled.  The grade level school counselor will send you the schedule by email with a start date, usually the next school day, indicated. 

Registration for current Wake County School students who have moved into the Wake Forest Middle School Base Area

Email your new proof of residence to Gina Kentopp at gkentopp@wcpss.net.  For proof of residence, Wake County allows us to accept either a copy of a lease agreement/purchase settlement statement OR a water, gas or electric bill that is within the past 30 days and does not show a disconnect notice.


We will email you back some needed documents and will contact your child's previous school to have them withdraw your student from their system.


Once the school has pushed the information over to us and we have received the completed documents back from you we will finalize the enrollment and send the information to the grade level counselor for a schedule.   The grade level school counselor will send you the schedule by email with a start date, usually the next school day, indicated.
