Choosing a High School 

​There are many wonderful high schools to choose from in WCPSS. It is important that you and your child explore the many options available to you in order to best meet your child's interests, talents and needs. For access to ALL information regarding early college, magnet and application schools, please visit this WCPSS link. Below is a highlight of some of the important information found on the WCPSS site. 

Base School

All students were provided with an assignment strip in December 2021 that indicates their base school assignment for the upcoming school year. Your base school is determined by your home address through the Office of Student Assignment. Click here to determine your current base school and application schools. (Note: this updates to next year's assignments some time in the Fall.)

Magnet, Early College & Other Application High Schools

Early Colleges:

• Early College High Schools help students get a head start on college (earning free college credits!) while they earn their high school diploma. Learn more about your options here. You can also use this is the perfect tool to guide you in exploring all Magnet and Early College programs in WCPSS! 

• You will need time to submit a complete Early College application. The application includes a student-written essay for each school, recommendations from the ELA teacher, the math teacher and a school administrator or school counselor, plus two years of prior grades, current grades, and two years of prior standardized test scores.   The Early College application period has now ended for the 22-23 school year

• Check out Magnet Explorer, a new magnet interactive tool, helping you explore all the Magnet themes WCPSS has to offer your child. This is the perfect tool to guide you in exploring all Magnet and Early College programs in WCPSS! 

• The magnet and year-round application period has now ended for 2022-2023. Applications are NOT first-come, first-served. Families will be notified mid-February 2021 if they received a seat at an application school.
