This collection development plan is overdue for an update as we begin to think about weeding nonfiction, adding more high interest fiction, graphic novels, and bilingual texts. In everything, we are guided by our curricular needs, student and teacher interests/requests, and a desire to provide high quality resources that are easily accessible.
We have made it our goal to make our English Language Learners welcome in the Learning Commons by increasing our books in Spanish as well as partnering with the ESL teachers to provide specialized orientations and lesson differentiation during all co-teaching. Additionally we have provided targeted support using trackable technology artifacts and feedback to improve the skills and confidence needed for ACCESS testing. The student pictured above is Giselle, a voracious reader who was so happy to get our first box of books in Spanish.
Written by MTAC, the Tech Plan will be adapted this year. This plan is written based on data from surveys and will incorporate walk-through data for the rewrite. Though not fully funded for 2019-2020, this plan serves to inform tech purchases as well as professional learning.
