All students in Library Media Studies 1st semester and 2nd semester created a digital portfolio and added artifacts and reflections demonstrating mastery of the LMS standards. All Fall semester students passed their final exams (consisting of a presentation and their full, polished digital portfolio). Our spring semester students continue to work on their digital portfolios in our remote learning environment. It is unclear whether these will be graded or only serve as evidence of growth.
Library Media Studies Digital Portfolios
My partner librarian and I have co-taught with 100% of freshman English teachers to create digital portfolios with their students. We have currently co-taught with over 1/3 of other freshman teachers to add artifacts and reflections to their students' digital portfolios. So far, freshman departments represented are English, OCS, Social Studies, CTE, and the Arts. Remote learning has definitely put the brakes on portfolios, but we are hopeful to reach out the math and science to see how they can encourage their students to use their digital portfolios as evidence of growth.
We have revised Goal 3 because MTAC membership changed after this goal was set. We no longer have representatives from most departments. We had very good attendance with MTAC meeting on Wed., a normal PLT time, but we would like full representation for next year and the ability to be on another subcommittee thus moving MTAC back to a standard committee meeting time on a Monday. Our walk-through data was a great help. It showed that technology is being used about 75% of the time and that for 65% of the students, that usage was mostly for productivity while only about 14% was totally unproductive use. MTAC would like to meet and make recommendations to leadership and admin for how to truly apply what we've learned in this remote learning environment to move forward next year with better and more consistent tech usage opening access to learning to all students.
