Library Media Studies students planned Geek Week as part of a semester long project. They researched, collaborated, brainstormed, planned, and executed a week of comp sci activities to engage students at KHSCD as well as East Wake Middle School, Wendell Elementary, and Lake Myra Elementary. The week ended with professionals sharing their experiences in a "Geek $lam" that was epic. We were excited to add a field trip to the "Garage," NC State's makerspace, as well as digital citizenship lessons to our 2nd Geek Week. With our schedule change, we were unable to coordinate with the national Comp Sci week, but it was effective just the same. Students created and taught comp sci lessons to Wendell MS and Knightdale ES as well as to their own peers. The digital learning playground on Friday was definitely a student favorite!
