All students are expected to follow the WCPSS Code of Student Conduct and school board policies governing student behavior. These policies are detailed in the WCPSS Student/Parent Handbook, distributed annually or upon enrollment.
All WCPSS and Green Hope High School rules apply not only during the school day, but also at extracurricular activities, off-campus events, and any situation that may impact school safety or the learning environment.
At Green Hope, we maintain high academic and behavioral expectations. Students must show respect for themselves, others, and the learning environment at all times—whether in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, the cafeteria, gyms, parking lots, on buses, or at school-sponsored events.
When behavioral intervention is necessary, administrators may assign a range of consequences, including:
Lunch detention
After School Work Sessions
Alternative Learning Center (Falcon Center)
Out-of-School Suspension (OSS)
Respect and responsibility are key to ensuring a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for all.
Students may use personal devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) only for instructional purposes with teacher permission, per the Technology Responsible Use Policy.
Schoolwide Cell Phone Policy:
Phones must be stored for the entire class using the teacher’s method (e.g., caddy, box).
Phones may be used only when directed by the teacher.
Phones may not be taken to the restroom.
Earbuds/headphones are not allowed during instructional time unless permitted by the teacher.
In case of emergency, families should call the Front Office to contact a student. All staff are trained to handle safety and emergencies.
Students receive WCPSS email accounts for school communication. Parents can opt their child out of internet/email access yearly by submitting the Parental Request to Deny Access Form. Requests must be resubmitted each school year.
Students must dress appropriately for a focused learning environment. Clothing must not be disruptive, unsafe, or offensive. Violations may result in:
Being asked to change clothes
Falcon Center placement
Parent contact or pickup
Note: Dress code applies fairly and consistently to all students. Accommodations may be made for medical, religious, cultural, or performance reasons.
Located near the Media Center, the Falcon Center provides behavioral and academic support. Students are assigned by administrators and engage in character lessons and academic activities under teacher supervision.
Minor Infractions
At Green Hope High School, minor infractions typically include:
Dress code violations (e.g., sagging pants, exposed undergarments, revealing or vulgar attire)
Attendance issues and minor tardiness, which are addressed by the teacher
Disrespectful or inappropriate language, including cursing, insubordination, or talking back
Improper use of electronic devices, such as phones, tablets, iPads, AirPods, headphones, etc.
Level 1 non-compliance with staff directives, such as refusing to follow instructions
Minor technology misuse, like violating responsible use policies with personal devices or browsers
Honor Code violations, depending on the severity
Possible Consequences:
Teacher-issued warnings
Parent contact (via phone call, TalkingPoints, or email)
Classroom interventions (e.g., changing a student’s seat or limiting device access)
Lunch Detention (in-class or in the Falcon Center), or restricted lunch privileges
Referral to the administration if behaviors persist
Major Infractions and Consequences
Level II Infractions include fighting, theft, vaping, bullying, disturbances to the school environment, or repeated minor offenses. These typically result in short-term suspension (up to 5 days), though more serious cases may warrant an extended suspension (6–10 days) or even long-term suspension (11+ days).
Level III Infractions involve more serious issues such as harassment, possession or use of narcotics and controlled substances, gang-related activity, or possession of a weapon (excluding firearms). These may result in suspension of up to 10 days and potentially long-term suspension depending on the severity.
Level IV Infractions include possession of a firearm or destructive device on campus. This results in a mandatory 365-day suspension, which may only be reduced by the Superintendent or Board of Education.
Level V Infractions apply to students aged 14 and older who commit extremely serious or repeated offenses from Levels II–IV and are considered a documented threat. These cases may lead to full expulsion from WCPSS, pending recommendations from the principal and Superintendent and approval by the School Board.
