Using Front Row in a 8th Grade Social Studies Classroom

Front Row has allowed me to incorporate more literacy techniques into my American history classroom. The program allows you to assign writing or reading tasks related to a specific historical topic.

The program allows you to assign vocabulary, timelines and maps related to a specific topic (ex: American Revolution). I incorporated vocabulary review into my class by creating a partner game using the study cards.

Students learned about the causes of the American Revolution through different group activities. I utilized Front Row as a way to review the material taught in class. Front Row provided a graphic organizer that allowed students to notate details about the various causes of the American Revolution. Students obtained their details from assigned articles in Front Row. This graphic organizer became a study guide for students in their Social Studies interactive notebook.
