Final Portfolio Deadlines for 2025-26:
Quarter 1: FRIDAY, Sept. 19th*
Quarter 2: FRIDAY, Dec. 12th*
Quarter 3: FRIDAY, February 27th*
Quarter 4: FRIDAY, MAY 15th* (The Friday before all final grades processed by the office 5/20)
*GRADES FINALIZED BY THE END OF THAT DAY: NO PROJECTS CHECKED or PORTFOLIOS GRADED AFTER THAT DATE*
"I checked my grades and I got a "0 / F" for one of my assignments...why, Mr. K.... WHY!?"
OOOPS! Mr. Kreacic may have missed entering in your grade! Thanks for telling me, I'll get on it... always check POWER SCHOOL. Let Mr. Kreacic know if something is not right.
Did you hit the PUBLISH BUTTON on your Digital Portfolio? It could be that Mr. K couldn't see your image and could not grade it.
"What if I don't upload an assignment into my digital portfolio, or I FORGOT TO HIT THE "PUBLISH" button...what happens then?"
That "0" or "F" is a "placeholder" until the assignment is visible in your digital portfolio. The project due date has passed, it's been graded, and we've moved on to the next assignment BUT----
You can still place it in your Digital Portfolio and receive "C" / 75% CREDIT UNTIL the LAST DEADLINE DATE before the end of the quarter. It is your responsibility to get your assignments into your digital portfolio.
"My Grade is really low, Mr. Kreacic (I didn't use class time wisely). Can I do any Extra-Credit or a different project?"
Mr. Kreacic does not give extra credit assignments. You need to complete the "REGULAR CREDIT" or assigned projects.
"What if I don't get that assignment into my digital portfolio at all...what happens then?"
Failure to post your assignment into your digital portfolio by the FINAL DEADLINE for grading will receive THAT ZERO (0 / F)
"I don't want to do the art project you assigned. I want to do...what I want to do. I'm creative. Can't I do something different?"
Art naturally can evolve from the planning stage to something totally new. If you have any ideas on what you might do to change a project assigned...talk to me. Tell me what you propose...it may be pretty cool! Let's work together!
Mr. Kreacic has designed these projects for you to reach certain standards set by the State of North Carolina...besides they will make you a better ARTISTS. So, please try to do the best you can.

"WHY DO I NEED a DIGITAL PORTFOLIO?"
Google Portfolios are needed for ALL Moore Square students. Every student needs a minimum of ONE EXAMPLE of work for EACH CLASS taken at Moore Square (Yes, that's 7 classes / 7 examples-MATH / ELA /Social Studies/ Science and Electives). For students taking multiple art classes over the three years, you should make ONE SEPARATE PAGE labeled with the class' title (Example "Drawing 1" with other pages for each art class completed at Moore Square. You will need to show your GROWTH as you progress in grade levels and move forward in your educational career.
Digital Portfolios (Google Sites) are used for GRADING your work. Mr. Kreacic looks each student portfolio at least FOUR TIMES each quarter (do the math and then you can understand how long it can take to grade.)
"WHAT DO I NEED in my 8th Grade "DIGITAL ART PORTFOLIO"?"
1 Example Per PROJECT for EACH ART CLASS (minimum 10 works recommended over the 3 years)
It's possible to have 40+ examples IF you take ALL the Visual Arts classes at Moore Square.
Visually record (take pictures) and store on your Google DRIVE all photos of your artwork (even in steps: beginning, middle and final).
IN MAY: 8th GRADE STUDENTS CHOOSE YOUR BEST 8 Artworks (with text reflections) to present as part of your FINAL ART PORTFOLIO.
