As an introduction course, Commercial Art I will put an emphasis on the understanding and application of the principles of design. Students will: design posters advertisements, mock billboards and product design & packaging.
Analysis of of advertising to convey a message (conscious or unconscious) will be explored. A visit to a local commercial art studio or a visit by a commercial artist to the classroom may be included with the course.
While students are encouraged to always create art at home, most projects can be completed in class with the time given. Students that cannot complete projects using class time need to take them home to complete (homework).
