This course blends the art of theatre with the craft of short film production. Students will work with teachers in both the Art and Theatre Departments, beginning in Theatre first term and then bringing their visual narratives to life in Art during the second term.
In the theatre component, students will explore how visual storytelling through image, gesture, and performance can engage and move an audience. Students will focus on interdisciplinary techniques that combine performance and visual art, collaborating to create short performances and develop scripts or storyboards for future production in the following term.
The film production component introduces students to the basics of video creation, with no prior camera experience required. Students will gain hands-on experience in all stages of production-planning, filming, and editing—while learning to operate the video cameras and other video equipment, as well as becoming knowledgeable in the post-production software. Whether in front of or behind the camera, students will contribute to the creation of short films, developing their technical and creative skills in a collaborative environment.
