French
Quick Facts
Offered all 4 years at Wayne Valley- and usually consists of mixed grade levels
- Class size is slightly smaller than average, with 1-2 sections per level
- Students have the opportunity to learn a widely spoken language and learn about culture
- It is a mix of reading, writing, listening, and speaking- with may interesting projects each year
- (May change due to COVID-19) The French program typically celebrates a number of traditional celebrations such as eating King Cake on Mardi Gras and crêpes on La Chandeleur
BENEFITS
- Students greatly benefit from the lessons on grammar, which improves their English skills
- If a student starts French in 8th grade, they have the opportunity to take class up until the french 5 level (French 4 and 5 are honors courses with weighted grades).
- Taking French in high school will prepare students for potential study abroad programs.
- In the far future, workplaces value bilingual employees very highly and the range of international careers one can have with French is extremely wide
-French is one of the only classes in the school to enjoy yearly field trips, including art museums and Broadway shows!
