About Modern Band
Students in grades 9-12 will learn popular music instruments such as keyboard, guitar, bass, voice and drum set. At the beginning, students learn the foundations of each of these instruments. Eventually, it turns over to the students as a student-based class. Students get to choose the music they want to do in the ensemble groups and perform it to the community.
Students do not need to know these instruments to be enrolled in this class. As a class, the students will learn traditional & non-traditional standard notation. With peer feedback and guidance from the teacher as a facilitator, this can be an excellent opportunity for students to grow, learn and have fun!
Modern Band Resources
Students enrolled have the opprotunity to expand their musicality skills. Resources are shown below for students. Additional information can be found on the student's Google Classroom.
Performances
Students will select their music and choose instruments they feel comfortable performing towards our concerts. The modern band groups will perfom in casual spaces such as restaurants, coffee shops, and other opportunities. Performances are usually in December and towards the end of the school year.

All events are subject to change. Families should frequently check their student's Google Classroom & ParentSquare for weekly updates, performance reminders, and other details. Please reach out to the Band Director if there is an issue. Band events for WCHS are shown in blue.
