About General Band
Students in grades 9-12 will be exposed to various opportunties and performances for HS related events. All students must have proficiency on their selected instrument to be enrolled in General Band when they arrive in HS.
Students enrolled in General Band will have the opportunity to develop musical growth in performances. Activities will include marching band, concert band, pep band, and other school-related activities. Performances may occur outside of class time, which students enrolled must perform at every scheduled performance and attend all after school rehearsals.
Students will be exposed to a variety of band literature styles. A portion of each student’s grade will be based upon attendance at these performances and rehearsals. General Band will teach students the appropriate care, technique, handling, and maintenance of musical instruments. General Band may be offered on multiple skill levels to accommodate student proficiency.

Students enrolled have the opprotunity to expand their musicality skills. Resources are shown below for students. Additional information can be found on the student's Google Classroom.
Performances
There are various performances for general band such as concert band performances, assessment, athletic performances, competitions, and other school events. All students who wish to participate in the Commander Marching Band must be enrolled in General Band to participate.

All events are subject to change. Families should frequently check their student's Google Classroom & ParentSquare for weekly updates, performance reminders, and other details. Please reach out to the Band Director if there is an issue. Band events for WCHS are shown in blue.
