Warwick Energy -- The Assignment
Warwick is interested in opening new energy company, but they need your help to decide on the type of energy.
With a group, you will research one type of energy and give a 3-5 minute oral presentation to the Board of Directors and CEOs.
CEOs:
- Mr. DuBosq & Miss Maney will act as CEOs for Warwick Energy
- CEOs will grade the entire presentation and tally the final votes to announce the decision of the group
Board of Directors:
- The Board of Directors will be the other students in the class that are not presenting at the time.
- Yes, that means you will have to pay attention to each presentation so you can make an informed decision!
- Each member will fill out a rubric for the group presenting to assist in making the final decision.
- The board will split into 2-3 groups to discuss the options presented.
- The board will order the options from 1-9 (1 being the option they want the most, 9 being the option the want the least) on a ballot to cast their vote.
Presentation:
- Appearance
- You will want to impress the judges with your appearance during your presentation - you don't need to wear a suit and tie, but avoid wearing sweats or cutoffs
- Visualization:
- Your group can create a visual presentation using PowerPoint, Prezi, poster, etc. to assist
- Presenters should not read directly from the visual presentation, but instead should be comfortable enough with the information to speak directly to the audience and make eye contact consistently
- You will want to include images, graphs, statistics, etc. during your presentation so the group can better understand the information you are trying to get across
- Include a information about a company that is already producing the energy
- It may be helpful to find information about cost, reliability, etc. from another company to make your energy type more appealing to your audience
- Your group can create a visual presentation using PowerPoint, Prezi, poster, etc. to assist
- Information:
- You will need to cite where you found your information so make sure to keep track while you do your research!
- Use the following questions to assist you with locating the correct information needed for your presentation.
- What is your energy source? Describe detailed information about your source.
- Fast Facts, stats, quick pictures, knowledge, names of places, companies, etc.
- How do we obtain the energy and deliver it to people?
- What do we get from the source that is usable in our technical world?
- What are some of the companies that use this source of energy to make money?
- What are the pros and cons involved with this energy source?
- What could we do differently to change or improve the state of this energy source?
- What is your energy source? Describe detailed information about your source.
