Monday

Unit 3 Compelling Question: Is isolationism better than globalization?

Supporting Question: How did US Participation in Spanish American War influence intervention in Asia and South America?

Today we will have time to finish Chapter 4 Section 3 Guided Questions.

Then we will look at how our desire for the Panama Canal affected the history of Central America and how the Open Door Note attempted to get the United States in to the Chinese markets.


Tuesday

Unit 3 Compelling Question: Is isolationism better than globalization?

Supporting Question: What were the long term (MAIN) causes of World War I?

We will use a variety of documents and sources to examine the concepts that set countries against each other that would launch the world into war. (Slide 2-7)

Wednesday

Unit 3 Compelling Question: Is isolationism better than globalization?

Supporting Question: Why did attempts to stay isolated fail and what events/issues caused American entry into World War I?

We will look at how the United States attempted to stay out of the European war. We will complete Slides 10-15 so that we can examine the events that pulled the United States into World War I.

Thursday

Unit 3 Compelling Question: Is isolationism better than globalization?

Supporting Question: How did Wilson's 14 Points compare to the Treaty of Versailles and how did this affect American participation in post-war world?

We will explore the peace process at the ending of World War I and how Europe changed as a result of the war. We will finish up the World War I Interactive Notebook (Slides 21-26) and the Imperialism Interactive Notebooks as we get ready of the exam on Monday.


Friday

Unit 3 Compelling Question: Is isolationism better than globalization?

Supporting Question: How did the US change as a result of the American participation in World War I?

Today we will focus on how the United States changed on the homefront. The homefront focuses on the activities that civilians are involved in during the war.

We will examine the following areas:

African Americans

Women

Food

Financing the War

Civil Liberties

You will access the information for each topic through the Google Slides and take notes on the graphic organizer handout given in class.
