Homework: Read Module 55

Wednesday

This will introduce the study of personality.

According to Freud, the personality is broken into three parts. The Id, Ego, and Super Ego.

Id= the what you want or desire = immediate gratification

Superego= what your parents, community, religion expects you to do

Ego= What you choose to do when listening to your id and and super ego

In the video he talks about conflict or guilt. According to Freud, when the id, ego, and superego are in conflict with each other you feel guilt or anxiety and this is something that we do not like. When we feel this conflict or anxiety, we search for a means to mitigate or get rid of this guilt. To get rid of anxiety, we use DEFENSE MECHANISMS
