This page advertises the trips that we are running for Year 9 this year during Character Enrichment Week. In order to secure your child's place on a day trip, parents/carers must complete a simple two-step process.
Step 1) Complete a Google Form which will open in January. You will be alerted to this in the School Newsletter during the first week back after Christmas. The form will guide you through your child's options and help us to record your choices. The form helps prevent parents/carers from signing their children up to multiple trips that occur on the same day or which are not for their year group.
Step 2) Pay the entire balance of the trip by 1st March.
If your child does not wish to participate in any of the day trips offered, they will be able to choose from a variety of in-school activities; these are generally free (with a couple of exceptions). These will be advertised after Easter. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for more information regarding the in-school offer.
Please note that parents/carers must complete both of these steps by 1st March in order to secure their child's place. All payments are non refundable, with the exception of the fishing and Go Karting trips*, so please make sure that your child is sure that they want to attend the trip.
*These trips have much smaller capacity than the other day trips. As such, we understand that if your child's friends do not get a place, your child may want to withdraw, thus the fee for these trips is refundable until the end of March.
Students are welcome to bring their phone on a day trip but they should be turned off and remain in their bags. They should only use them in an emergency, such as to call the trip leader on the trip phone; or to contact parents/carers with regards to transport home.
We want students to 'be present' and enjoy their day with their peers; mobile phones can be a distraction from this and therefore we expect that they remain turned off whilst on the trip unless they need to use it in an emergency. Students using their phones outside of this remit risk having their phones confiscated for the duration of the trip.
Please note, student mobile phones are not covered under the Academy Insurance and thus students bring their mobile phones at their own risk.
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as we dive into two of London’s most exciting historic sites: the Tower of London and HMS Belfast.
At the Tower of London, you’ll be led by a costumed historical character who will bring the past to life right in front of you. Explore the places where real events happened, choose which famous stories to investigate, and get involved in drama activities, debates and questioning as you uncover tales of kings, prisoners, ravens and even jewel thieves.
Then we’re heading aboard HMS Belfast for a self-guided journey through one of Britain’s most famous warships. You’ll get to:
Experience the Gun Turret and feel what battle was really like
Step into the Operations Room with radars and interactive controls
Visit the Arctic Mess Deck to see how sailors lived during WWII convoys
Go below the waterline into the massive boiler and engine rooms
Climb to the upper decks for amazing Thames views

The Lion King explodes with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music as it follows the powerful story of Simba as he journeys from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands. Now in its 27th year at London's Lyceum Theatre, visionary director Julie Taymor's acclaimed reimagining of Disney's beloved film will redefine your expectations of theatre. The show runs for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, including an interval.
Students will arrive at school and normal time and take part in a drama workshop until 11.30am, where they will then depart the school site and travel to the show.

Making Focaccia bread in Food Tech.
Rocket Launching! - this is run by the science department and includes making your own launchable rocket!
Day of Sport
Some students have attended Forest School via invitation. This will continue to run in this way for 2026.
Please note that the above activities are subject to change and are not definite for this year. The in-school offer will be advertised after Easter.
