Linked Learning Academy Online Application

2023-2024 Recruitment

The Linked Learning Academies are located at our District's four comprehensive high schools (El Diamante, Golden West, Mt. Whitney, and Redwood High Schools). Incoming eighth-grade students may choose to enroll in an academy at any of the four high schools based on their career interests.

The Linked Learning academies are open to all Visalia Unified School District-boundary incoming ninth-grade high school students. Students will be viewing information videos in their eighth-grade courses the week of January 16, 2023. A parent presentation will also be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, and Thursday, January 26, 2023, at El Diamante High School's Theater (5100 W. Whitendale Avenue). Students and parents are encouraged to participate in the recruitment event.

Together with their parents, students can choose a Linked Learning academy to attend using an online application. The application period will open on January 17, 2023, and close on February 24, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year. Once an application is received and verified, students will receive a confirmation letter and information about the chosen academy orientation.

On January 17, 2023, the online academy application window will be opened. Parents and students for the academy of their choice. Once the application period closes (February 24, 2023), academy students will be selected by lottery if there are more applicants than open spots. Please note Academies are only open to VUSD boundary students. If you live outside of the VUSD boundaries, an Inter-district Transfer Request must be granted and on file before any consideration.

Academy parents and students will be invited to an Academy Open House to learn more about the program and to formally sign-up for the academy. If you are a VUSD boundary student and applying for a high school’s academy outside of your high school of residence, the intra-district transfer process will be waived, and students, once accepted, will be able to attend that academy.

Visalia Unified School District will provide a busing route between schools to accommodate students traveling to their academy school. Busing is not provided to specific homes.
