Prevalence
Parkinson’s Disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder worldwide, following Alzheimer’s disease.
In the United States, it is estimated that about 1 million people are living with Parkinson’s Disease, with approximately 10 million affected globally.
The global prevalence of PD is estimated to be around 0.3% of the general population, increasing to 1% in individuals over the age of 60 and up to 4-5% in those over 85.
Incidence
In the United States, around 60,000 new cases are diagnosed annually, but this number may be underestimated due to misdiagnosis or underdiagnosis, especially in early stages.
