Designers need to be comfortable with a wide variety of materials, though they often specialize in one or two.
During your time at VIDA (and also in your free time) you have had the opportunity to explore designing with a wide variety of materials. Some examples of materials you may have used are:
Clay
Cardboard
Wood
Glass
Metal
Textiles (yarn/fabrics)
Found Objects
Jewelry
Styrofoam
Stone
Wax
?????
Explore at least 3 different materials. (Or think of 3 materials you have already explored.)
Think about how these different material could be useful in product design.
Create something (or document something that you have already created) with each one. (It does not need to be perfect, but it should allow you to understand the material and how it can be used.)
For each material:
Have at least one image.
Write a brief description of the material and what you made with it.
Select 1 of these materials for your focus.
Create something that you are proud of (or demonstrate something you created in the past).
In a well written reflection (or a well produced video):
Explain why you selected this material.
Describe your process of working with this material, or
Create a "How to" video or website to help other students who are interested in working with this material.
Add all of your evidence and reflections to the Dimension 5 page of your personal brand website.
Submit the published link to the Dimension 5 page of your website in Canvas.
