This is a personal logo that I designed for myself. It is my initials intertwined to show the connections between my personal identity (Ellen), my connection to my family history (Donlan), and the family that I have built (Crews). I chose the analogous color scheme of purple, blue, and red. I chose to emphasize the cooler colors (blue and purple) to create a calming feeling with just a shadow of red imply a more exciting undercurrent.
Perspective and Shading
This task was very difficult for me. I have never felt comfortable with drawing, so I tend to avoid drawing anything more complicated than a simple diagram like you would use in science notes. I had done one-point perspective before, but the two-point was new to me and I really like it. I had to restart several times. Eventually, I got the hang of things and started to be pleased with the work. The most interesting part was figuring out the shadows! In the end, I really was surprised at how well my two-point perspective drawing came out.Â

Balance
For the first part of this task I chose to find the balance and symmetry in something that I really care about: Architecture! I was amazed at all of the different types of balance that I could find. Most importantly, this gave me a new lens through which to view the structures around me.
For my larger project I chose to focus on Crystallographic Balance. I made a digital mosaic using common emojis. What I like about this process is that the emojis are in a very rigid grid structure, bot the different colors and shapes bring the image to life!
