We did the SDG collage and we chose SDG 4. I liked how we added the 3D book design.
We did the Currency redesign and we made 5 designs according to different events that is local to Taiwan.
We made a mood board according to our topic, which is Migrants. We also chose keywords and color that we think matches the topic.
We made pitch that talks about our project and what we think our design will be.
We improved our pitch and added a charter and got some feedback so we cant imporve our project.
Our group mate designed the logo and I think it looks very nice but I can have some color.
We made a brand kit which is where we add fonts that we want our project to have and the logo and mood board colors.
One project I could improve is week 7 Brand Kit. We are also already improving it by changing the fonts and pick better colors that relate to the project more. A specific feedback I received on our project pitch is to not put stereotypical clothing or items. So we changed our keychain design according to not show stereotypical things. A project the logo design is connected to previous PBL classes because we also had to make logo's and vote for the one our group wanted. I have grown from making the project pitch. In previous classes, my groups project pitch often lack information that we need on the project so this time we added a lot of new information. I need to improve researching in PBL because my research sometimes lack information that are important. The issue we are focused on is Migrant caregivers being mistreated by locals. At the begin of the semester, I thought doing graphic design was easy and just had to do drawing. But after doing a lot of graphic design, I realized that it was harder than I thought. The most important I learned is to draw thumbnails because it can save you a lot of time.
A part of a magazine I worked on is some of the writing and doing the captions. One feedback I received is to change my captions layout and place the source on the bottom and the size of the words. This helped to make the magazine look better. The part that connected to my other PBL class is our topic was also talking about the injustice of migrant caregivers. I do more different types of work now than before I only worked on one part. I grew from a learner to a group member because I know what to do and I can help my team. One thing I still need to improve on PBL is how efficient I work. I plan to stay on task more to increase efficiency.
Some thing that surprised me the most when I was doing research is how much migrant workers come to Taiwan. Some assumptions we have before the start of the project is that they are all from southeast Asia but that isn't true, it's only most of the people. People still ignore the fact that they are being poorly treated and maybe abused. This changed my way on looking at the problems by letting me understand more on how they are being treated.
This is our final logo design. My design skills, confidence and understanding develop by helping me know what should go together and what shouldn't. The most useful design principles that helped me the most is the the elements of art because it helped me learn what I need in the project. Graphic design helped my group communicate social justice by showing them what can represent them and how they're being treated. The most proud design decisions is the design in the logo.
