Carbon Footprint PPT

I feel like doing activities in science is really interesting. I changed my portfolio by adding a lot of information. I even added pictures and titles and captions. Some overlapped skills are organizing my portfolio and putting relative information.

The portfolio connects to math class because we are doing an Eco House in math also. Some overlapping skills are finding the carbon footprint and how we are saving power of an Eco House. I applied the engineering skills on the windmill.

We had to keep trying to see if the windmill was able to lift weight. It wouldn't lift the weight at first because the string is going back and falling down so we added a backboard but it still didn't work. After 6 to 7 tries we added 2 boards on the front and back of the string and finally worked.

The biggest challenge was to make the carbon footprint PPT. We had to find trustworthy websites to know if our information is true or not. So next time when I need to make another PPT I will find information from trustworthy websites.

Understanding Sustainability & Human Impact

They impact the local ecosystems negatively by throwing trash everywhere and not doing recycling well enough. The part that reduces negative human impact is using solar panels which helps by using less electricity and saving energy. Making energy means burning fossil fuels which is creating air pollution and it's bad for us. It helps solve the problem of air pollution because of reducing the use of burning fossil fuels.

Understanding Material Science & Design Choices

I chose wood for my walls and mineral wool for insulation because it suits wood the best. The material best at heat transfer is cotton because it absorbs the heat and makes others warm when touching it. I learned that material influences real world building by changing the stability and how eco friendly the building is.

Energy Systems & Efficiency

I used solar energy in my eco house to save electricity and to burn less fossil fuel and create less greenhouse gas. Also because energy use is the most important in people lives and this saves the most money. Energy transfer occurs in my system by transferring sunlight in energy which transfer to usable electricity. My energy system reduce environment impact by saving energy and contributing to less air pollution compared to burning fossil fuels.
