This is our first week project which is the SDG collage, we choosed what SDG we want to focus on and see if they project would be suitable to be our final project. This one connects to our science class, which we are also learning about the climate and global warming, so this helped us on both class to have an understanding of what actually causes global warming and how we could help to reduce this issue.
This is our second week project, this time we haven't really decided what we were gonna do, and I changed groups into another one. This project for me was made more successfully and the grades were pretty good.
This one is our week 3 project called the mood board, we narrowed the topic down into helping migrant workers and trying to make a mood board based on what we know. This mood board is essential because the vibe of this mood board would be the vibe of one of our final project which is the magazine.
This is our first pitch telling audience about what we are gonna do on our final project and see if this group of people is narrowed enough. We talked about our driving question and what we are going to put into our magazine.
This is our second pitch, we made some changes from the first one incluing making the timeline and also putting our design to promote social justice in there. The most important part of this pitch is that we narrowed the topic down and became only migrant caregivers. This gives a clearer path and a easier topic for us. Overall, the second pitch was a big improvment
This one is our logo design, which we want to use the key to mean by unlocking rights, the hand is for making this issue look important and powerful. Last but not least, Key Rights is our group name that we have chosen in order to be close to the topic and feels like we are helping them. On this project, we have a better working divide so we can do group projects more efficiently and better grade since we don't need to panic or forgot what we need to do.
This one is our brand kit. It shows our 3 logo designs including the one that we are using. The second thing is the color that we will be using more the magazine and most of the theme. Next is the words type that we may use in our magazine and our logo design. The last part is what type of pictures we would include into our final magazine.
Through out the first seven weeks we made a lot of changes and improvements, including narrowing down the project topic and finding the best group that I could fit in. We made a lot of good designs and presentations. We learned that time management is one of the most important thing to be in a group, when a group are dong this efficiently the progress they made are normally better and the grades they get would be better. Since they could have a clearer guided direction of what they are going to do. The most important part is the issue that we are focusing, right now we have already marked down what we are going to do and who we are going to help, which is those migrant care givers. They are the ones who are helping the taiwanese society by taking care of the old, but people often treat them badly and give them lower wages than local workers. This issue is very unfair and we want to promote awareness to people to notice this issue. We tell them that the people who are taking care of us are also people, meaning they also should be treated equally, you can't just because their skin color or culture is different. We will be making designs to talk about the issue and the people that are already helping them, also what we could do as a reader. We will also be making designs that we are giving out if people donate money to us. These money would be donations to the foundation that we are going to help.
This is our final logo design, it is pretty similar to the week 6 logo, but we changed a lot of details including the size, the way we draw it as the final logo. The main important thing that changed is the hand, the previous weeks logo is more of a rough sketch, but this final design we used digital tools to make the hand look stronger and powerful, showing that this rights issue is essential to those people. Next is the size of the key, we made it bigger than normal keys that we see to show how much it means to those people. Not much people have experienced the difference between cultures and traditions. They come to a different environment and learning from zero, this rights can help them unlock skills like learning a new language while minimizing barriers and can do their work more efficiently.
This is our magaine draft one, in this draft we used what we researched and try to put in categories like the issue, interventions and also community partners. This is the first time that we wrote about this issue in a full magazine, it was a lot of work, and I didn't really used my time well at that time, so the quality wasn't the best but I have tried my best during that time. We laso did some rough wire framing for our magazine lay out planning on how we can put those texts in there with pictures.
For our magazine draft two, on the first draft we tried to use our research to form our magazine texts, but we found a problem which is the research needs to be more complete, because we first thought that those information was enough for us but after I wrote those texts, I found out that there are some parts that I need more evidence to support claims and data. We also got a lot of feedback on what we can improve about our magazine layout and context.
On the magazine draft three and draft four, I continued to write the magazine and do those research, we also started to do our rough sketches for the process poster. I am still the writer in this group so I continued to write on the magazine while working on the process poster showing what we did throughout this semester. For the process poster, we first did the research in the first few weeks, and then started to write articles and get feedback on where we did good and what we can improve.
On the magazine draft 5 which is the final draft we put everything together and see the result. In this week we made a lot of changes after we putted everything up, mainly on how much I write and if it is too much or too little while adding more pictures in there. This magazine is putting everything of what we have done and combine it together. It includes the issue that we found and researched in, the cause of this issue, some government policies that have helped them also with the community partner that we coped with. We also put our tangible design and our group logo in there.
This is our final tangible design, we first made some sketches and got some feedback, then we redid those sketches that got the most positive feedback and we felt like to use it. So this is the one that we thought would be the best to use for our final tangible design, and we made it into buttons. We chose buttons because it is a smaller thing so that people can bring it with ease and without weight. It could be also putted anywhere you want and even if it is small but it is sitll easy for people to notice or see it.
