For this project, we were tasked to explain and present healthy and unhealthy communities. According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Community Needs, a healthy community has to fulfill physiological, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization criteria.
Physiological needs are the basics- food, water, shelter, and air. Safety includes the economy, such as having a job, having access to medical care, or literal safety from crimes. Then, we have love and belonging, which is the social state of the community, the peoples' relationships. Self-esteem is how people feel about the community or about themselves. Lastly, we have self-actualization. This is the development of skills, hobbies, and interests.
Some examples of healthy communities are Iceland and Ireland. Iceland is the number one rated safest country to live in. Iceland has high-quality seafood, fresh water, and colorful communities to live in. Ireland has high quality agriculture-produced food, great air, and beautiful architecture.
