What did I do differently during the second round of preparation?
I focused on memorizing the counter-arguments, because after the first round, I had experience, and a decent understanding of what the opponent would act / say. I was also able to sort of "twist" my previous questions into trap questions, so I don't have to come up with new ones.
Can't upload pictures because of file incompatibility, sorry!
Here are some improvements I think could've been made on this project next time:
On my value scale calculations, I initially messed up because I didn't pay attention to the words and did not add Taipei City and New Taipei City as a whole. Next time, I could try to read the instructions more carefully.
I miscolored my Taichung City, I misplaced it one category below. I think it was because I typed the wrong number in the calculator during calculation.
I think one thing that makes my map harder to interpret is the numbers. Sometimes they double-digit numbers were displayed on different lines, and it was a little bit hard for me to find the corresponding counties, because I'm not so great at geography.
I definitely struggled whilst filling in the value scales. At first, I didn't add cities and counties together. The second time, I got further in the instructions but I was really confused. At the end, I decided to talk to Audrey and do my work alongside her.
Next time, I want to be able to be more focused whilst calculating the value scales so I can notice which counties should be counted together, so I won't have to restart and can save a lot of time.
My classmate did point out to me that my colors were very well chosen. She said that it was intuitive and she could tell the colors by density easily. I agree with their feedback.
That feedback didn't specifically change anything, but it did further reinforce the
Prompt 1:
I think my Japan choropleth map was significantly better because first of all, it was very neat, the colors were standardized, and most importantly, I had added a small value graph at the bottom of the paper.
Prompt 2:
I still struggled with a bit of the actual value colors, because after I finished my map, I double checked with other sources and I had colored two prefectures the wrong color.
Prompt 3:
Honestly, it was pretty easy. The worksheet / guide wasn't particularly complicated, and I knew that all I needed to do was to make a value scale and color the map in. There was no secret to success here, it's just common sense(if you paid attention in class).
Prompt 4:
My friend said it was really simple to understand. I asked him why and he explained the concept that they had already been exposed to the color red as dense and lighter colors(such as green) as sparse, so when the colors were the same, it triggered their muscle memory / their perception of the color's meaning.
