We really love hearing from you all so keep sending us those emails each week to 5thclassteachers@virginians.ie
Hello Everyone in 5th class,
It is hard to believe we are into our first week of May already. We hope you are all keeping well and not missing school and your friends too much. A big thank you to everyone who got in contact with us last week. We really loved receiving emails from you, hearing about what you have been getting up to and viewing some of your lovely work. Please continue to keep in touch through email as we really love hearing from you.
We still haven't heard from everybody and we would really like it if you could send us an email this week even just to say 'hello' if you haven't done so already.
'Our Amazing Gallery' is now located through a separate tab at the top right corner of the blog page. Click on this to view some of the fabulous work the children in fifth class have been sending in to us over the past few weeks. If you would like to see some of your own work in the gallery please send it in to us with parental permission.
We're sure you know how to use the blog at this stage. There is a variety of work from many different subjects to choose from.
Not everything needs to be completed. Just try your best.
If you have any questions, want to share some of your work with us or you just want to say hello email us at: 5thclassteachers@virginians.ie
We miss you all and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Stay safe, stay well and please stay at home.

Debate Time!
We would like to put your debating skills to the test this week! Write an argument for and against one of the scenarios on the right. (You can choose more than one if you like).
The aim of a debate is to persuade the audience to agree or disagree with a particular scenario. Below there are some guides on how to write a debate, a PowerPoint on persuasive writing, vocabulary that could be used and an example of a debate that may help you.
When you have your arguments prepared you could practice your debate speaking in front of your family.
Write a short story based on the picture above. What do you see? What hidden treasure is in the box? Who put it there? Where is the box?
Try to be as creative as possible!
*Continue practicing your handwriting every week.

We would like you to interview a parent or grandparent to ask them about what school was like when they were in school. (We are aware you may not be able to visit your grandparents at the minute but you could interview them over the phone).
You will find attached below some interview questions you could ask them or if you would like to prepare your own you can do so.
When you have your answers write about the comparisons and differences between what school is like for you and what it was like for them.
If you have old magazines or newpapers lying around the house, now is the time to put them to use. Simply cut straight strips of the magazine paper and stick them to an outline of a picture. You can draw your own outline if you wish or use the template provided if you prefer. Send us in your finished creations, we would love to see them!
Continue practicing your jumps and leaps from last weeks gymnastics PowerPoint.
This week we would like you to focus on rolls. Take a look at the attached information sheets to make sure you are preforming the rolls safely and correctly.
Or click on the link provided to watch videos on how to perform each roll. https://www.scoilnet.ie/pdst/primarygymrolling/
Make sure you use a mat or a soft surface for these activities.
You may also like to try another spell your name exercise challenge!
