Hello Everyone in 5th class,
We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and spent plenty of time outside in the beautiful sunshine.
It is hard to believe we only have a few short weeks left of 5th class.
Thanks again to those of you who emailed us last week, we really love hearing from you so keep those emails coming in to us at: 5thclassteachers@virginians.ie
As this is a short week and we were meant to have only 3 days of school, we have uploaded a few fun activities for you to try out over the next 3 days. Below you will see Active week activities and exercises, a junk art challenge, a calm jar/positivity jar activity for mindfulness, a scavenger hunt and much more.
As always everything does not need to be completed, just try your best.
Remember to send us in your work and if you would like to see it on the blog make sure you send parental permission.
We would love to hear from each and every one of you this week. We miss you all so much!
Stay safe,
Ms. Brady and Ms. O’Reilly
In the art section you will see a junk art challenge where we want you to gather any old 'junk' from around your house and create something new from it. When you have your 'junk art' made we would like you to write about what you made, the materials/items you used, what you will use it for now and where you got the idea from!
Féach ar an dhá phictiúr: Look at the 2 pictures.
Cad iad na difríochtaí (6 rúd)?: What are the differences (6 things)?
This week we want you have a look at the artist Artur Bordalo. Artur felt the world was very wasteful and that people could be recycling and reusing the items they use every day. He decided to create stunning animal sculptures using every day recycled materials. To find out more about Artur Bordalo click on the link below.

Using Artur Bordalo as your inspiration we want you to create some Junk Art of your own.
Have a look around your house and see are there items you could recycle and reuse?
Your challenge is to make something from these items. It could be an Art creation/new toy/household item/accessory/outfit/Garden ornament. It has to be made completely put of recycled and reused materials.
Steps to help you
1. Think of a design for your recycled item – Get a pen and paper and plan out your design. What material will you need.
2. Gather all your materials – Collect all the materials you need to make your recycled item including scissors, sellotape and glue.
3. Start making your item – Using the design you have planned out and the materials you have gathered start making your new recycled item.
4. Write about your creation; what it is, what it is made of, why you chose to make it etc
5. Send us in your 'Junk Art' designs!
Design and Create your own Obstacle Course!
Try to be as creative as you can and use objects and items from around the house.
Attached you will see some items you can use and a time challenge sheet where you can record how long it takes you and your family to complete the course!
We would love to see pictures of your courses so send them in to us! Have fun!
You can use this time challenge sheet or make your own one in your copy for keeping score.
