Critical Investigation Checklist

• Heading / Statement of purpose

• Artwork image with label/ source citation

• Information about the artist (brief: who, when, and why they are significant) + Source citations

• Visual Analysis (Explain the use of formal qualities and techniques and how they contribute to the artwork)

• Interpretation (Research/ evidence based opinion of what the artwork is about)

• Impact/ Inspiration/ Learning (Explain and if you can, show what you have learned from this investigation and how it will impact your own artwork)

You can also include:

• Annotated images of the artists work.

• Experiments using the style or technique of the artist.

• Practice copies of the artist's work.

• Written reflections and observations.
