TIME MANAGEMENT & ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES
TIME MANAGEMENT & ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES
While conduct my teaching demonstration, it is true that managing time with the activities that have been written on the teaching plan is a challenge especially with how the hour of teaching is limited to just an hour per-lesson. Ones must be wise and clever enough to make their lesson effective and efficient so that the essence of the lesson could still be given to the students and not wasting time on invective activities that could bored the student or just make the lesson more complicated for them.
In the point of view as a student teacher that concentrated on scientific major, it is more of a challenge in the cases of bringing the live of the abstract and complex topic involved in the science subjects. There's a lot of term and form that not just to be memorize by the students but also to be understood by them to why it is important to learn such things. And by observing other teacher students and also reflecting to the teaching demonstration that I've done, i could conclude some of time management and organizing activities in executing the lesson such as:
DON'T TELL IT, SHOW IT
since the method of teaching in UNP are with the IBL (Inquiry Based Learning), the teacher of course need to revolved the lesson with questioning the way, the reason and the purpose of why the topics matter to the student, one of the way that it can be done is by giving more of visual representation and give the students chances to share their perspective toward the given visualization than just telling them directly, or giving them the definition to memorize . it is done by some of the student teacher that i observed especially the ones that have complex topic like skeletal system in human with many types of bones form and each of their function. it is also an entertaining way for the student since they don't stuck with just 'text' to be read that is not effective nor efficient for the students to understand the point of learning the topic.
GAMES TO EVALUATE STUDENTS
evaluation is usually the most avoided part for the students after the main course of learning session. so to make them enjoy the part is to make the 'test' more fun in the form of games. it is also a time-saving activities for some that could includes the conclusion of the whole lesson in the single gameplay, so while the teacher could know how far the student knowledge and understanding of the topic, they (the students) can also enjoyed the way they could tell the answer or give their opinion without tension or pressure of the 'traditional way of evaluating'.ย
an example that i found is in the lesson conducted on grade 5, the student teacher evaluate the student in the way they labeled the given statements as real/fake. it is not a boring or hard for them to do, and the student teacher can directly know far their understanding in the way they determine the given statements.
