TEACHING PROCEDURES
Based on the observation I've done to the 4 classes on UNP Laboratory School at 21st of October 2024, according to the lesson plan from one of the student teacher provides and the opportunity for me to conduct teaching demonstration , there's few steps that i could conclude from the teaching procedures done by the student teachers including myself which i will provide in the list below:
before officially starting the learning session of the class, teachers will greet the student and as per-usual having little interaction with the students. Some teacher will give them procedure or rule before starting the class to stating the way the class will expected to be.
After the opening session, some of the teacher will continue by giving ย or asking a review from the last lesson they had (if it's related, or continuation) in the form of thought-provoking question or statement in the form of video, vignettes or just directly jump into the first activity of the class according to the lesson plan they made. This session usually are includes in the 'Elicit' segments.
While doing my teaching observation journey on UNP,ย i was introduced to a class activity planner namedย "Aligned Classroom Instruction Design" or as known as ACID plan. Which contain a list of specific information regarding the learning guide or competency, subtasks for the teacher to fulfilled alongside the teaching activities and also the Highest Thinking Skill for the Student to Assess.ย

Based on what model the teacher use on teaching (either 7E or 5E), the student teachers will concludes various kind of activities with questions to be answered by the students along the way and must be in the same track as the subtasks written on the ACID PLAN and of course must be align with every element on the 'Highest Thinking Skills to Assess' section in the ACID PLAN such as Revised bloom taxonomy categorization that will be the main skill developing focus while the learning activities occur, Assessment technique, and the PIQ (Primary Inquiry Question)
After the main course of the learning activities is done, the student teacher will give the students evaluation in different kind of assessment that must be completed before the teaching hours is over (for science subject it was 1 hour)
The Evaluation segment could be done individually or in group, but most of the time the teacher will give some 'extra session' for each student to tell about their personal answer regarding the questions given.ย
(it could be on the form of worksheets or spontaneous Q&A session)
In this segment, the student teachers will usually give the student opportunities to give their answer about the PIQ and also conclude the lesson they've had in the day. This segment is also the time where the teacher will give assignment to the students.
and by any chance if in the end of class, the student can answer and also understand the concept of the PIQ given by the student teacher, then the learning activities could be considered as success .
The closing segment if not be filled by farewell bid by the student teacher with the students, is also the moment for the student teacher to giving their version of the lesson conclusion. And by that, it's the sign of the class to be dismissed.
And by that, the teaching procedures is all done. Of course it's just a bits of it and every student teachers that i observed have their own kind of way to concludes all of the segment in an hour of teaching every week. Different kind of activities and assessment such as using video to dance and sing upon opening up the class, giving rules,ย asking about their experience that are align with the PIQ of the day and so on.ย
The main task that the student teacher must fulfilled in every lesson they do is to make sure that the student are able to answer and understand the topic of the day and the way they present themself with various way to complete the teaching process will determine how the outcome will be.
