TEACHING METHODS OF THE OBSERVED TEACHER
Game-Based Methodย
The most engaging teaching method that the student teacher used in the lesson are the Game-Based Learning (GBL). For example in the grade 6 when they executing the evaluation segment of the current lesson, the students is given instruction to the game by not stopping the movement of the 'pink box' until the music that following it stopped. And whoever person that got handed the box at the stop code will be picking random paper inside the box. The papers itself contain a different question to be answered by the student. This game-based learning not just entertaining for the student, but it also can maintain their awareness and could keep their attention to the lesson.
There's also grade 5 that implemented the GBL in their lesson with the 'opinion stick ' that've been handed to each of the student to expressing their opinion regarding statements given to them. It is a fun activities whereas the student could also interactively give their opinion regarding their decision to labeled the statement as myth or fact.
Interactive/Participative Method
The interactive/participative based one based on the observation that I've done, is the most suitable for gaining students attention and also for introducing the current lesson in the more fun way, especially in the lower grade (since students in this stage are considered more active) so giving activities that requires students to sing or dancing can helped them to maintain their focus on the lesson without making them feel bored. It is also helped the student to better understand the lesson when it is related to the motoric activities that theyย do (for example the movement of bones in human body, and how to gain a healthy habit by exercising).
Group Study-Assignment Method
And the most used teaching method according to the observation that i do in UNP Lab School is the Group Study-Assignment method. In which the students divided to some group to do the assignment or to discussing the topic that's been given by the student teacher. With this method, the students can share their thoughts and opinion regarding the topic with each other to engage their socializing skill and also to developing their confidence to sharing their opinion to others, while making the student learn to respect others opinion and of course to how they could come up with a solution together.
